Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God; New Year Day 2016
The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
What better way to start the New Year if not with a unique prayer such as that! Finally a new day has come. Not just a new day but a new year! Today marks the beginning of another 366 days (since we are in a leap year), today marks the opening of new doors of opportunities, new graces, a rebirth from the life we once lived & left behind last year. Yes, like St. Paul says today, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, we brethren are no longer slaves to our past sins and failings, we are victors this year, conquerors, heirs to success.
So what are your plans this new year? What are your resolutions? Want a new house maybe? A latest car model? Relationship goals? Academic success perhaps? Oh we can’t forget, success in our field of work? A lot of plans and resolutions we may have. A lot of joy and fulfilment we will get to; only if we don’t lose sight of God our heavenly Father. He gave you the new year air you’re breathing now, obviously He has a lot of goodies in store for you. All He asks is that you make him your number one priority this year. Let Him reign supreme in your life, let Him come first. All plans and resolutions will be worthless if they are not in accordance to God’s ultimate plan for you. Have God and you’ll end up having a Blessed New Year.
The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Amen.
