Thursday after Epiphany, 8th January 2016
While Jesus was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and beg him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And He stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him.
Sin is like leprosy: it eats up to soul until there’s nothing left, it causes hardship and pains, it strips one of their spiritual dignity making one feel unclean and it lives one isolated from community of God’s people, it even makes one see themselves as outcasts.
But we have to realise that Jesus has the power to make us clean and whole again. He who came by water and blood, He who is filled with the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:6) can purify you. Christ is always willing to stretch out his hand and say, “Be clean.” All we have to do is believe in the Son of God and say, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean” and be rest assured that He will!
